Awsome set up article. Very helpful when your just starting out and haven't got a clue.

Thanks,
Pat

Great tutorial from someone that does a lot of matting and framing. Shadow box frames, pre-cut mats, backing boards and even pre cut plexiglass are available from a number of different online suppliers which would make the job even easier.

I have just discovered this website...WOW...it's great. As a commercial tyer for many years and a fisherman for even longer I have come to the believe that color is not a very important consideration for flies Not often are flies tied using the color of the belly of the real insect when tying dries. Wet flies of just about any type are moving too much for color to be a MAJOR concern. For example, during a Green Drake hatch I have done as well with a #10 or 12 Adams as with any of the Green Drake patterns.

I'm for sure tying this one, and trying it in the Arkansas, and elsewhere. I often look for pattern with movement.

Where can I learn how to join the leader to the fly line using the inch worm knot?

Excellent. Anybody who knows who invented the Grey Ghost, knows something needs to be on the front end of a fly, if nothing else the patch of red thread. You have done a spectacular job of capturing the art of painting the eyes.

I have a question regarding streamers. What is your best streamer pattern for the "stubborn squaretails" that would just as soon let a fly hit them on the nose as hit it?

Thanks,

Randy

After spending too long thinking about it, enough was enough. And now I'm happy.

I'm not understanding why many rows in leader-calc do not contain formulas. There is one out of five Borger formulas that I can see. Help!

The "LeaderCalc" would really be a great tool if I could download it so I could read it. I do have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on my system, problem is the print is so small I can hardly make it out. When I try to enlarge the image and print it in landscape mode it will not let me, any suggestions? Thanks for your anticipated assistance.

A lot of these cheaper tools are actually originally designed for melting modelling wax, and are used by goldsmiths and jewellers.

Steve Morawski: these are standard dye colors produced by Whiting Farms for the chick-a-bou and soft-hackle product. If your catalog or flyshop does not offer those colors, it is their choice I guess. Ask your local flyshop or catalog outfit to obtain these pelts for you.

Since you got this far …

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
